Greetings all! This week was very exciting as we welcomed our new student, Marci, from Hungary; we began our new unit exploring creativity and culture; and we started our math centers. Also, we had our special guest story teller and we started a 'Reading Buddies' time with a Grade 1 class. Thank you to all who have sent in your families cultural items. They are wonderful for our discussions and we look forward to sharing more and learning how we are connected while expressing ourselves differently. We had fun and learned at our level in our math centers! Our guest story teller, Niall de Burca, was funny and engaging. We also practiced our spelling and increased our vocabulary with Scrabble and Boggle - so many words from just 16 letters! Reading Buddies!!! Our counselors are doing many activities to support our learners and our community. On Wednesday, October 12th, Jamie and Karen will be hosting a Parent Partnership Meeting around social and emotional learning. This is the 'unwritten' curriculum in schools and it's so important for our youngsters to develop their social and emotional skills. We highly encourage all to participate in discussions on how we can partner together to support this critical development. More information can also be found on our their counselor's blog: http://aswarsawelementary.weebly.com/counselors-corner HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!
