Can you believe it's the end of the year?!?!
We've had an amazing whirlwind of activity these past few weeks as we close out this year - field day, an amazing guest speaker, memory books, splash time, and bringing our biographies to life with our living museum.
Number Sense: If I were to ask you to solve this problem in your head: 499 + 345 how would you do it? My instinct would be to round 499 to 500, add 345, and then subtract 1. This is number sense. We do it all of the time--manipulate and play with numbers. For our 3rd graders, it is a skill that has to be developed through practice. Here is a great article that informs parents on ways they can strengthen their child's number sense.
