New Unit - How the World Works

Greetings Parents, 
Below is an overview of our new unit.  We are seeking guest speakers from this field area; if know of anyone who might be willing to visit, please contact Ms. D.

How the World Works
An inquiry into the natural world and its laws; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological) and human societies; how humans use their understanding of scientific principles; the impact of scientific and technological advances on society and on the environment.

Central Idea
Human survival is connected to understanding the continual changing nature of the Earth.

  • Discuss key vocabulary
  • Look at the environment around your home (soil, trees, what is man-made, what is nature)
  • Discuss the different careers or roles related to human survival, understanding our Earth, or support with natural disasters
  • Use any recent or past environmental events to discuss human interaction, impact, or relation
