Our inquiry focus at the beginning of the year is finding out ‘Who We Are’. Who are we as individuals? Who are we as a group? In what ways can we show who we are? Thursday students wrote “I wish my teacher knew…” to describe the unique qualities, interests, concerns, and questions they have. Later in the day, we used our knowledge of a variety of mathematics topics to create a number representation of ourselves. We used The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein to talk about our relationships with others and how we strive for balanced relationships where both parties contribute. Students then rewrote The Giving Tree to create their own version of the story. Happy Friday!
